(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team traveled to Chicago, Illinois, for a Friday evening tilt with the 14th-ranked University of Chicago Maroons. The Maroons used three second half goals to pull away from the Tartans who are now 8-3-1 on the year and 1-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

The Tartans had back-to-back corner kicks in the 18th and 19th minutes but weren't able to fire off a shot until the 35th minute when junior Philip Petrakian's (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) attempt was wide.

Junior Alec Lam (Upper Saddle River, N.J. / Northern Highlands Regional) made three saves in net for the Tartans in the first half to keep the score knotted at 0-0 following the first 45 minutes of action.

A minute and 52 seconds into the second half, Chicago (12-1, 2-1), previously ranked first in the nation for three weeks, scored on a breakaway by Isaiah Holquist.

Junior Anthony Gulli's (Warrenville, Ill. / St. Joseph) attempt to equalize in the 52nd minute was turned away by Hill Bonin in goal for the Maroons.

Two minutes later, Matthew Koh put Chicago up 2-0 by converting a penalty kick.

With the Tartans playing down a man, Chicago extended the lead to three when Koh scored for the second time in the 80th minute.

The Tartans will continue a three-game road stand at Washington University in St. Louis (7-3-1, 1-2) on Sunday, October 15 at 11:00 a.m. CT.
