Danny Brandt Hired as Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach

Carnegie Mellon University head men’s soccer coach Brandon Bowman is thrilled to announce the hire of two-time national champion Danny Brandt as the next full time assistant coach for the Tartans. Brandt began his duties in Pittsburgh this week after serving one season as an assistant coach at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.

Junior Jacob Moskowitz (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) represents the Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer team on the All-Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Men’s Soccer Team, as announced by the ECAC Tuesday afternoon. Moskowitz is the second Tartan to earn the award under the new structure started in 2017 and 10th player since 2013 to be recognized by the ECAC.

Carnegie Mellon University men’s soccer seniors Jack McCambridge (Bethlehem, Pa./Moravian Academy) and Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill./Buffalo Grove) have been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Google Could Academic All-America Division III Men’s Soccer Team. The announcement, which came out Tuesday, honors 33 men's players from across the nation.

The 11th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team faced 10th-ranked Kenyon College in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Championship at Kenyon on Sunday, November 11 after advancing via penalty kicks in the first round. The Tartans held a 1-0 lead late before Kenyon won in overtime, 2-1. The Tartans end the season with an 11-5-3 record.

The match was played at Kenyon College and puts the Tartans overall mark at 11-4-3.

Junior Jack Painter (Bethlehem, Pa. / Moravian Academy) was named to the All-Association First Team, junior Jacob Moskowitz (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier Township) earned second-team honors, while senior Philip Petrakian (Redwood City, Calif. / Sacred Heart Preparatory) and junior Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) were named honorable mention.
