#14 Tartans Steal Road Win at Westminster, 2-1

(NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.) - A goal in the final two minutes propelled the 14th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team to a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Westminster College Friday night. The Tartans, who gained entrance to the national rankings this week, are now 4-0-1 for the year while Westminster falls to 4-2.

Senior Zack Masciopinto (Arlington Heights, Ill. / Buffalo Grove) scored both goals for the Tartans with the game winner coming with one minute and 38 seconds to play. The shot came off a crossing pass by junior Jack Painter (Bethlehem, Pa. / Moravian Academy) with the attempt getting past the keeper to the far post.

With all the scoring happening in the second half, the Titans took the lead in the 64th minute on Nick Iregui's seventh goal of the season. Prior to the goal, the Tartans had a shots on goal advantage of 5-2.

Masciopinto's first score tied the game at 1-1 in the 78th minute when he finished off a saved shot by sophomore Jordi Long (Silver Spring, Md. / Montgomery Blair).

Sophomore Alex Singh (Golden, Colo. / Lakewood) earned his second win in goal for the Tartans after making two saves.

The Tartans will be home for their next contest when they host Allegheny College on Monday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.
