(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 18th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted the University of Mount Union Friday evening, falling 1-0. The Tartans now move to 1-2 on the year while the Raiders are 2-0-1.
In the 59th minute, Ryland Wikle scored his first goal of the season with assists from Christian Egan and Jon Schroeder. The goal occurred following a pass from Schroeder which was then flicked by Egan to Wikle and then a right footed shot to the far corner of the net gave the Raiders the 1-0 edge.
Both goalies faced one shot on goal throughout the 90 minutes of play with Mount Union's Zach Hlas making his save in the 41st minute off a shot by Carnegie Mellon's senior Alex Dziadosz (Boxford, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover).
The Tartans will be back in action on Sunday, September 8 when La Roche College travels to Pittsburgh for a 3:00 p.m. start.
