Tartans Earn 2-0 Victory Against Rochester

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted the University of Rochester on Friday night for a University Athletic Association (UAA) contest, topping the Yellowjackets by a 2-0 score. Senior Alex Dziadosz (Boxford, Mass. / Phillips Academy Andover) tallied both goals for the Tartans who are now 5-6-1 overall and 1-2 in the UAA. The Yellowjackets fall to 7-5 and 0-3.

Dziadosz first put the Tartans ahead 1-0 in the 30th minute after fellow senior Elliot Cohen (Solana Beach, Calif. / Canyon Crest Academy) was able to tip a pass to him around the six-yard box for a one-touch strike. Cohen was able to beat Yellowjacket keeper Hugh Curran to a ball on the end line and all Dziadosz had to do was finish the pass.

Five minutes into the second period, Cohen found Dziadosz again, this time with play starting in the Tartans' defensive half. After freshman Kiran Sarvepalli (Fairfax, Va. / Fairfax) won the ball, he found Cohen toward the center of the field. Cohen quickly dribbled toward the goal and sprayed a pass outside to his right to Dziadosz streaking down the field. Dziadosz then carried the ball inside the 18-yard box and around a defender to strike a right-footed shot between the keeper and the near post for the game's second goal and his second of the season.

Senior Alex Singh (Golden, Colo. / Lakewood) made three saves in goal for the Tartans to earn his fifth win of the season and second shutout.
