Edmunds, Kalis Named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Men’s Soccer

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University senior Jason Edmunds (Libertyville, Ill. / Libertyville) and senior Ethan Kalis (Riverwoods, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) were named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team. Edmunds earns the honor for the second straight season while Kalis is honored for the first time. To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or significant reserve and maintain a GPA of 3.3 or better.

Carnegie Mellon is part of District 4 that is comprised of all Division III schools in the state of Pennsylvania. Edmunds and Kalis will now move on to the national ballot for Academic All-America recognition consideration.

Edmunds is a three-year starter at outside back for the Tartans and earned All-University Athletic Association Honorable Mention during his sophomore campaign. Last year, Edmunds was honored on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team after the team played three games with two shutouts. This season, Edmunds helped the team to seven wins with three ties and three shutouts.

In the classroom, Edmunds carries a 3.56 grade point average as an economics major. In 2019, he was a Pittsburgh Hispanic Development Corporation (PHDC) business analyst intern and Dietrich College summer intern. In 2020, Edmunds was a PHDC interim business analyst and a Dietrich Internship Grant Recipient. In the summer of 2021, Edmunds worked at Idea Foundry as a business analyst intern.

Kalis earned the starting goalkeeper role this season and accumulated a record of 5-6-2 with one shutout. He was the winning keeper for the Tartans against #20 John Carroll in September. Off the field, Kalis carries a 4.0 GPA in business administration and was a global research summer analyst at Bank of America, where he'll return to for full-time employment after graduation. Kalis has been a senior mentor for Research and Asset Management Academy, a portfolio manager for Tartan Student Fund and has volunteered for Smithsonian Institute transcribing old writings.
