Baugh Scores First of Season to Lead Tartans to 3-0 Road Win

(CRESSON, Pa.) – The eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team traveled to Mount Aloysius College for a mid-week game on Wednesday, September 21. The Tartans earned another shutout, the fifth of the season, with a 3-0 victory with three different goal scorers to move to 7-0 for the year. The Mounties drop to 2-5-1.

Inside The Box Score

  • Senior Josh Baugh scored his first goal of the season to give the Tartans a 1-0 lead in the 27th minute. His score came off a keeper save following a shot by junior Ethan Vertal.
  • Sophomore Jake Kavan added to the score 30 minutes into the second half with his first goal of the season and second of his career. He received a pass along the left sideline from sophomore Jake Slackman and moved around a defender to attack at the corner of the 18-yard box for a right-footed strike to the far side netting.
  • Sophomore Kuba Yiadom had the other score for the Tartans. It came in the 87th minute after sophomore Billy Boucuvalas put a ball forward off a header for Yiadom who controlled it with his head and fired a left-footed shot over the keeper. 
  • Freshman Liam Ryan earned his sixth win of the season after making two saves in 90 minutes.
