Schonwetter Named UAA Men’s Soccer Rookie of the Year; Three Others Honored on All-Association Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Brendan Schonwetter earned the respect of the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches by being named the UAA Men's Soccer Rookie of the Year, sharing the honor with Rainer Osselman-Chai of Brandeis University. The UAA coaches also recognized three other Tartans for the year after the team finished fourth in the league standings with a 3-4 mark.

Joining Schonwetter on the team are senior Jason Edmunds and senior Kiran Sarvepalli, as all three garnered second-team accolades. Senior Tyler Harp received honorable mention recognition.

Schnowetter started 12 of 16 games played as a midfielder for the Tartans during the regular season. He scored four goals for the year with two game-winning strikes. Schonwetter tallied the team's lone goal at Washington University in St. Louis in a 2-1 defeat.

Edmunds earned his third UAA honor after starting 15 of 16 games this season, including six of seven in UAA play. An attacking outside back, Edmunds fired off five shots in UAA play scoring one goal and assisting on another for the year.

Sarvepalli earns his second UAA honor after leading the midfield for the Tartans in 2022. Sarvepalli played all over the field and was a target the opposition had to keep tabs on throughout the year. He scored twice this season and assisted on back-to-back game-winning goals in a home double-win weekend for the Tartans against Emory and Rochester.

Harp is a first-time UAA honoree and earned the award by leading the Tartans from his defensive midfield position. Harp started 13 of 14 games played during the regular season and often kept the opposing team off the score sheet.
