College Swim Coaches Association Honors Tartans with Academic Honor

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for its academic success for the 2011-2012 school year. The 26 member team earned a 3.10 GPA for the spring semester.

Carnegie Mellon University senior Matt Stanton (Richboro, Pa./Council), a member of the men’s swimming and diving team, was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

Four Carnegie Mellon University men swimmers finished competing at the 2012 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday, March 24. The Tartans ended the championships claiming five All-America Honorable Mention distinctions.

On the second day of competition at the 2012 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships Thursday, March 22, Carnegie Mellon University recorded five All-America Honorable Mention awards. The Tartans 400-yard medley relay team along with junior Daniel Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) swam in the consolation finals Thursday evening.

Freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview) won the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday during the final day of the University Athletic Association Championships held at Case Western Reserve University. The Tartans finished in fifth place as Emory University took the team title.

Carnegie Mellon University freshman Anton Razanav (San Diego, Calif./Westview) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week for his performance over the weekend in dual meets against SUNY Geneseo and Westminster. The freshman helped guide the Tartans to a 2-0 dual record with a 176-117 win against Geneseo and a 198-95 victory over Westminster.

Senior diver Eli Fatsi (Midlothian, Va./Trinity Episcopal) continued his impressive start to the 2011-12 diving season with two first-place finishes at the Carnegie Mellon University Diving Quad Meet on Friday, November 18 and Saturday, November 19. The results were unscored but Fatsi topped divers from Allegheny College, University of Rochester and Washington & Jefferson University.
