Tartans Win Three at Home Quad Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team won all three individual dual meets during its annual home quad meet with Allegheny College, University of Rochester and Washington & Lee University. The Tartans topped the Gators 178-84, the Yellowjackets 185-77 and the Generals 132.50-129.50.

The Tartans opened with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as sophomore Josh Lucheon (Knoxville, Tenn./Knoxville Catholic), junior Austin Bohn (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleona), junior Terrence Wong (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and freshman Lucas Bruder (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) touched in a season-best 1:36.25.

Carnegie Mellon then swept the next two events as freshman Christopher Wysocki (Rockville, Md./Winston Churchill) led a sweep of the 1,000-yard freestyle touching in a season-best time of 9:53.73. Sophomore David Campbell (Voorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) was second in 9:57.23 as freshman Martin Smith (Washington, D.C./The Bolles School) was third in 9:58.97. In the 200-yard freestyle, freshman Steven Geier (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) touched first first in a season-best time of 1:45.38 as sophomore Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) was second in 1:46.08 and freshman Matthew Nielsen (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) was third in 1:46.73.

After a third-place finished (53.92) in the 100-yard backstroke by sophomore Michael Kellman (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman), Bohn won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:00.36. Sophomore Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) took second in the same event in 1:01.40.

Senior Brandon Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.69 as Campbell was third in 1:57.23 while Bruder finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.68 and Kellman third in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.83.

The 200-yard breaststroke saw Um finish first in 2:13.50 and Nielsen second in 2:15.84 before Geier led a sweep of the 500-yard freestyle in 4:47.35. Wysocki took second in the freestyle event in 4:49.56 while Andrew Yee was third in 4:49.63.

The Tartans will be off for a week before traveling to Kenyon College for the three-day Total Performance Invitational beginning on Thursday, November 29.
