Men’s Swimming Receives Team Scholar Award from CSCAA

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as five individuals were also named. The 2014 CSCAA Scholar All-America Team and Individual Scholar All-Americans are supported by Nike.

A handful of swimmers on the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team traveled to Gambier, Ohio to Kenyon College's Fast Chance meet to see if they could better there times from the season and qualify for the NCAA Championships to be held in March.
Tartans Finish Fourth at UAA Championships

As the final results were calculated from the 2014 University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming and Diving Championships, which took place over three days and in two cities, the Carnegie Mellon University men’s team finished fourth with 1,116 points. Emory University squeaked out the team victory by 3.5 points over the University of Chicago.
Tartans Conclude UAA Championships with Five Provisional Cut Times

The University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Saturday at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., as the Carnegie Mellon University men's team picked up five NCAA provisional cut times during the final swim. Final results of the championships will be available Monday after results are merged from the satellite meet at Case Western Reserve University.
Three School Records Set to Open UAA Championships

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team traveled to Atlanta, Ga., on Friday, February 14 for the University Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by Emory University. As inclement weather hit the Atlanta area, three competing teams were unable to make it in, thus requiring a satellite meet that is being hosted by Case Western Reserve University. Final results to determine champions will be compiled late Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Smith, Heaney-Secord and Erra-Hernandez Named UAA Athletes of the Week

Freshman Mark Smith (Clarendon Hills, Ill./Hinsdale Central), junior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) and senior Zachary Erra-Hernandez (Las Cruces, N.M./Onate) were each named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports for their performance during the last week. Smith earned the award for men’s swimming, Heaney-Secord for men’s tennis and Erra-Hernandez for men’s track and field.

On Saturday, February 1 the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team traveled to the University of Pittsburgh for the Western Pennsylvania Invitational. The team competed against swimmers from Pittsburgh, Clarion University, California University of PA and Grove City College.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team won its opening meet of the spring semester, defeating SUNY Geneseo and Westminster College in a double dual meet at Westminster. The Tartans topped Geneseo 170-128 and Westminster 158-133 while only winning five events.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team, who is ranked fifth in the nation by the CSCAA, continued its dual meet win streak with two wins on Saturday, November 16 against Washington & Lee University and Allegheny College at home in the University Center pool. The Tartans are now 6-0 on the season after defeating the Generals by a score of 180-77 and the Gators by a score of 181-68.
Tartans Swim to Support Sarcoma Cancer Research

Each November the Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's swimming and diving teams participate in the Ted Mullin "Leave it in the Pool Hour of Power" Relay. The event marks the sixth year the team participated in the relay. The event helps raise funds to support research at the University of Chicago into the causes and treatment of sarcoma, a rare soft-tissue cancer, in young people.
Tartans Defeat Grove City and Rochester in Tri-Meet

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team traveled to Grove City College to swim against the Wolverines and the University of Rochester, leaving with two victories. The Tartans won eight individual events for the day and topped Grove City 227-64 and Rochester 195-83.
