Men’s Swimming Honored by CSCAA for Academics

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as four individuals were also named.
Riek Closes NCAA Championships with Third All-America Honor

Freshman Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) closed the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships with his third All-America honor on Saturday, March 19. Behind Riek's performances and freshman Gabriel Bamforth's (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) diving, the Tartans finished 28th overall.
Riek Tops School Record, Places Third in 200 Fly at NCAA Championships

Freshman Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team set a new school record at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, March 18 in Greensboro, N.C. at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Riek's record-breaking performance came in the 200-yard butterfly.

Bamforth Dives Way to NCAA Championships

Freshman Gabriel Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team earned a place at the NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships with his finishes on the one-meter and three-meter diving boards at the NCAA Region 4 Championships held at SUNY Cortland on Friday, February 26 and Saturday, February 27.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team placed fifth at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by the University of Rochester in Rochester, N.Y. Freshman Gabriel Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) was crowned a UAA Champion in 1-meter diving while head diving coach Alicia Gorman was named UAA Men's Diving Coach of the Year.

Saturday's men's and women's swimming & diving dual meet between Denison University and Carnegie Mellon University has been cancelled due to the recent snowfall that struck Western Pennsylvania overnight. The meet was scheduled to take place at Denison's Trumbull Aquatics Center at 1 p.m. The meet will not be rescheduled.
Bamforth Earns Third UAA Weekly Honor

Carnegie Mellon University freshman Gabriel Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS), was honored for the third time this season by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week after helping the Tartans remain undefeated in dual meet action. The Tartans defeated Westminster College, 161-136, and SUNY Geneseo, 170.50-128.50, at Westminster on Saturday, January 16.

Kaku and Bamforth Receive UAA and ECAC Recognition

Carnegie Mellon University divers, junior Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) and freshman Gabriel Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS), were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as divers of the week. Bamforth receives his second honor this season while Kaku is recognized for the first time.
