Bamforth and Li Honored by UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University divers, freshman Gabriel Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) and senior Winona Li (Allison Park, Pa./Hampton), were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as UAA Divers of the Week. Bamforth receives the honor for the first time in his career while Li is a repeat honoree from last week.

Both Bamforth and Li met qualifying standards on both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving boards during the Carnegie Mellon Diving Invitational on Friday, November 13 and Saturday, November 14.

In addition to his qualifying standard of 474.20 points on the 3-meter board, Bamforth set the pool and school records while winning the event. The freshman also recorded a score of 442.85 on the 1-meter board to place first amongst 10 divers.

Li recorded career-best point totals of 406.95 on the 1-meter and 421.35 on the 3-meter, while she won from the higher distance and place second from the lower.

The divers will be in action again at the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College on December 3-5.
