Men’s Swimming Honored by CSCAA for Academics
(NORFOLK, Va.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as four individuals were also named.
The Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The men's team earned a 3.47 for the spring semester.
Individually, senior Matthew Nielsen (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods), sophomore Edward Healy (Lincroft, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy), and freshmen Jack Dangremond (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Academy) and Jack Lance (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) earned Scholar All-America Honorable Mention honors for achieving a GPA of 3.50 and a "B" time standard. Nielsen receives the honor for the second consecutive year and met the qualification standard in the 400-yard IM. Like Nielsen, Healy earned a 4.0 GPA for the entire year and achieved the qualification standard in the 200-yard butterfly.
Dangremond reached the time standard in the 100-yard breaststroke while Lance swam the 400-yard IM in qualification time.
