The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as four individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team finished the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in 19th place when the meet concluded Saturday, March 18. Sophomores Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) and Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) finished the meet as All-Americans for the second straight year.

Sophomore Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) picked up another All-America finish at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team on Friday, March 17. Riek swam in the 200-yard butterfly finals for the second straight year on Friday.

The 2017 championships will be hosted by the City of Shenandoah and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in Shenandoah, Texas, on March 15-18.

Senior Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) and freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds) of the women’s team and sophomore Winston Chu (Warren, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) of the men’s team were honored for their respective performances at their home tri-meet with Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 14.

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore diver Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) and senior diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as divers of the week following their respective record-breaking performances at the Total Performance Sports Camp Invitational hosted by Kenyon College on December 1 through December 3. The award is the third for Bamforth this year and second for Kaku.
