Men's Swimming Named CSCAA Scholar All-America Team

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as four individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.
Tartans Place 19th at NCAA Championships

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team finished the 2017 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships in 19th place when the meet concluded Saturday, March 18. Sophomores Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) and Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) finished the meet as All-Americans for the second straight year.
Riek Swims to Another All-America Finish

Sophomore Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) picked up another All-America finish at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for the Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team on Friday, March 17. Riek swam in the 200-yard butterfly finals for the second straight year on Friday.

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) will once again compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships. The 2017 championships will be hosted by the City of Shenandoah and the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) in Shenandoah, Texas, on March 15-18.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s swimming and diving team finished competition at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Saturday, February 11 at the University of Chicago. An eight-year-old school record was topped as the Tartans finished fifth for the meet while Emory University took home the team title.

Three Carnegie Mellon University swimmers and divers received recognition from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as Corvias ECAC South Athletes of the Week on Tuesday, January 17. Senior Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) and freshman Emma Nicklas-Morris (Winston-Salem, N.C./RJ Reynolds) of the women’s team and sophomore Winston Chu (Warren, N.J./Saint Peter's Prep) of the men’s team were honored for their respective performances at their home tri-meet with Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 14.
Three Sweeps Lead Tartans Past Westminster and SUNY Geneseo

The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team hosted Westminster College and SUNY Geneseo on Saturday, January 14 after returning from its annual training trip in Miami, Florida, earlier in the week. The Tartans topped Westminster, 213-77, and Geneseo, 157-140.
Bamforth, Kaku Receive UAA Diver of the Week Awards

Carnegie Mellon University sophomore diver Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) and senior diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as divers of the week following their respective record-breaking performances at the Total Performance Sports Camp Invitational hosted by Kenyon College on December 1 through December 3. The award is the third for Bamforth this year and second for Kaku.
