Pool Records Set at CMU Diving Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - Two pool records were set by Carnegie Mellon University divers during the Carnegie Mellon Diving Invitational on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17 with competitors from Allegheny College, Rowan University, Washington & Jefferson College and Westminster College.

Three divers earned placement to the 2019 NCAA Zone Diving Meet as freshmen brothers Judson Kyle and James Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) and senior Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) surpassed qualify scores this weekend on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards after 11 dives.

In addition, Judson set a new pool record on the 3-meter board, winning the event with a score of 527.75. Also setting a pool record was Bamforth on the 1-meter board with a score of 515.65 which was the high score for the event amongst 14 divers.

Following Judson on the 3-meter was Bamforth in third place with 522.70 points and James in fifth with 481.25. Senior Evan Hill (Knoxville, Tenn. / Bearden) placed ninth with a career-best 327.65 points.

Behind Bamforth on the 1-meter was Judson in third with 463.65 points, James in fifth with 434.00 points and Hill in 11th with a career-best 329.80 points.

The Tartans will be off during Thanksgiving until traveling to Gambier, Ohio, for the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational on Thursday, November 29 through Saturday, December 1.
