Kyle, Bamforth Qualify for Nationals

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Two Carnegie Mellon University men's divers qualified for the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships after their finishes at the 2019 NCAA Region 4 Diving Championships on Friday, March 1 and Saturday, March 2.

Freshman Judson Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) finished second on the 3-meter board while senior Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) placed fourth on the one-meter board helping to solidfy their qualification to the national meet.

Kyle recorded a point total of 502.35 after 11 dives on the 3-meter board on Saturday to earn his trip to the NCAA Championships. Bamforth tallied 474.85 points on Friday on the 1-meter and then scored 481.75 points to place fifth on the 3-meter on Saturday.

The 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships will be held March 20-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina. Bamforth will be making his fourth appearance at the meet where he's earned two top 8 finishes and two other top 16 finishes.
