Britton, 800 Free Relay Score All-America Honorable Mention Honors

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - Sophomore Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) registered another school record while he and the 800-yard freestyle relay scored All-America Honorable Mention honors at the 2019 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Friday, March 22.

The 800-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Richard Dauksher (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), sophomore Max Gonzalez (Allison Park, Pa. / North Allegheny), freshman Daniel Ng (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) and junior Sam Hawke (Malvern, Pa. / Episcopal Academy) finished 12th overall in a time of 6:43.81. It marked the 12th All-America honor for the relay in school history and first since 2010.

Britton qualified for the consolation finals of the 100-yard backstroke by touching in 48.90 during the preliminaries. He went even faster in the finals heat, winning the consolation final to place ninth overall in a new school record time of 48.19 to earn his first individual All-America Honorable Mention award.

Competition concludes on Saturday with Britton swimming the 200-yard backstroke, Dauksher the 1,650-yard freestyle, senior Gabe Bamforth (Cambridge, Mass. / CRLS) and freshman Judson Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) in the 3-meter diving event, and the 400-yard freestyle relay.
