McNab and Kyle Named UAA Swimmer and Diver of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming freshman John McNab (Westport, Conn. / Staples) and sophomore Judson Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) were named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week. McNab earns his first honor while Kyle earns his second straight.

McNab has the nation's second-best time in the 1,650-yard freestyle after finishing the long distance race second overall in a NCAA B Cut time of 1:38.93 at the West Virginia University Invitational. The freshman also earned B Cut times of 4:31.96 in the 500-yard freestyle and 4:00.06 in the 400-yard IM. His 500-yard freestyle time is third best in the nation while his 400-yard IM time is sixth in the nation. McNab also led of the 800-yard freestyle relay that is third in the nation with a time of 6:44.64.

Kyle placed second on the 3-meter board with a total of 546.30 points after 11 dives and was fourth on the 1-meter board with 510.65 points at the Carnegie Mellon Diving Invitational. His scores are NCAA qualifiers with his 3-meter total, 1.20 off the school record.

The swimming and diving team will be back in action in January at the SWFC Meet during the team's training trip to Florida.
