Tartans Win Third Straight Dual Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team defeated visiting Washington and Lee University on Saturday, November 13 by a 215-47 score in its second home dual meet of the season. The Tartans are now 3-0 in dual meet competition for the season.

The 200-yard medley relay of senior Richard Dauksher (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), freshman Kevin Wu (Mason, Ohio / William Mason), senior Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) and junior Erik Feldmann (Yakima, Wash. / West Valley) opened the meet with win in 1:33.10.

Junior John McNab (Westport, Conn. / Staples) was first in the 1,000-yard freestyle by nearly 10 seconds in 9:59.23 while freshman Adel Heddadji (San Ramon, Calif. / Dougherty Valley) won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:54.98.

Junior Aleksander Tarczynski (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) touched first in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:43.89 and won the 100-yard butterfly in 50.56.

Sophomore Adi Kambhampaty (Arlington, Va. / Washington-Liberty) won both breaststroke events for the second straight week with season-best times of 57.89 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:09.80 in the 200-yard breaststroke.

Senior Sean Ream (Canton, Ohio / Jackson) earned the victory in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:54.40 while Feldman was a double winner in the sprint freestyles in 21.26 and 46.44, respectively.

Dauksher won the 200-yard backstroke by more than five seconds in 1:53.22 while Britton won the 100-yard backstroke for the third time in 50.93.

Freshman Sammy Telanoff (Santa Monica, Calif. / Santa Monica) won the 200-yard IM for the second time this season touching in 1:54.98 to finish off the individual events for the day.

The 200-yard freestyle relay once again improved on the team's best time with junior Yousef Hassen (Redlands, Calif. / Redlands), Feldmann, junior Matthew Nagler (West Chicago, Ill. / St. Charles East) and Britton touching in 1:23.34.

In diving, Jud Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) won the 3-meter diving event with 315.90 points after six dives and also finished at the top of the leader board on the 1-meter board with 292.43 points. Junior Matthew Wagner (Mason, Ohio / Wiliam Mason) was second on both boards and surpassed NCAA Regional qualifying scores with marks of 304.88 and 289.80 on the 3-meter and 1-meter, respectively. Wagner has earned a place at the regional meet after meeting the mark on the 3-meter for the second time this season with both Jud and his brother James Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) also earning placement at the regional meet by achieving their second qualifying marks on the 3-meter board as well.

The Tartans will next compete in the three-day Kenyon Invitational on Thursday, November 18 through Saturday, November 20 while the divers will host an invitational on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20.
