Kyle Sets Pool Records During CMU Diving Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's diving team hosted the CMU Diving Invitational on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20. Senior Jud Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) had top scores on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.

Kyle set a new pool record on the 3-meter board with 563.80 points while his brother James scored 559.15 to finish second. Junior Matthew Wagner (Mason, Ohio / Wiliam Mason) was third on the 3-meter board with a score of 507.55.

Freshman Jonathan Lindstrom (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) hit a score of 446.70 in his first event of 11 dives. His score placed him seventh out of 16 divers. Sophomore Tyler Hoyt (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest) placed 12th with 403.60 points.

The 1-meter board competition was on Saturday with Jud winning the event with 491.55 points. Wagner placed fourth with 440.50 points, Lindstrom was fifth with 427.05 points and Hoyt was six with 407.75 points.

Jud, Wagner and Lindstrom each met qualifying scores on the 1-meter while both Kyle brothers, Wagner and Lindstrom met the score on the 3-meter.

The Tartans will now take a break from action until January when they travel to Denison University on January 15.
