Tartans Use Western PA Invite to Prepare for UAA Championships

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team swam at the Western PA Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the University of Pittsburgh against the host Panthers.

Some highlights from the meet include:

The 200-yard freestyle relay of freshman Luke Han (Suwanee, Ga. / North Gwinnett), senior Richard Dauksher (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), junior Oliver Lance (Lititz, Pa. / Warwick) and freshman Kevin Wu () placed fourth in 1:24.95.

Junior Max Ryaguzov (Hawthorn Woods, Ill. / Adlai E. Stevenson) placed fifth in the 200-yard IM in 1:55.79.

Freshman Andrew Klepchick (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mount Lebanon) finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:41.48  and third in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:27.61

Freshman Christian Lanuza (Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich) placed third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.32.

Lance finished sixth in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.06 and Wu placed sixth in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.45.

Sophomore Leo Badaker (South Amboy, N.J. / Copenhagen International School) finished third in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.30.

Junior Seaver Dahlgren (Mill Valley, Calif. / Branson) placed fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:08.51.

Senior Jud Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) scored 256.58 points on the 3-meter board and 328.35 on the 3-meter to lead the divers.

The Tartans will start the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships on Wednesday, February 9 at Emory University.
