Men's Swimming and Diving Honored by CSCAA for Academics

(NORFOLK, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team was honored by the College Swim Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) with a Team Scholar All-America award as 12 individuals were also named CSCAA Scholar All-Americans.

The Team Scholar All-America award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The men's team earned a 3.53 GPA for the spring semester and also earned the award following the fall semester in which they recorded a 3.48 team GPA.

To qualify for First-Team Scholar All-America, student-athletes earned a minimum GPA of 3.5 and participated in their national championship.  Second-Team selections also earned a 3.50 GPA or higher and achieved a "B" time standard for the national championship or participated at a diving zone qualification meet.

Seniors Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason), Colin Daniel (Westfield, N.J. / Westfield), Richard Dauksher (Fort Collins, Colo. / Fossil Ridge), James Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School), and Sean Ream (Canton, Ohio / Jackson), along with juniors John McNab (Westport, Conn. / Staples) and Matthew Nagler (West Chicago, Ill. / St. Charles East) all received first-team honors after competing at the NCAA Championships. All seven are repeat honorees from 2020 with Daniel, Dauksher, Kyle, McNab, and Ream earning second-team recognition in 2021.

Second-team honors went to sophomore Santiago Gomez (Doral, Fla. / Doral Academy), senior Doug Johnson (Brea, Calif. / Brea Olinda), senior Jud Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School), freshman Christian Lanuza (Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich), freshman Jonathan Lindstrom (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman), freshman Sammy Telanoff (Santa Monica, Calif. / Santa Monica), and Elmer Weng (Naperville, Ill. / Waubonsie Valley).
