Tartans Host Time Trial Meet and Celebrate Seniors

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team hosted a time trials invitational on Saturday, January 21.

Top Performances

  • Senior Doug Johnson opened the men's events with a victory in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 10:01.98.
  • Freshman David Zoota touched first in two events, the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.58) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:54.15).
  • Senior Seaver Dahlgren was first in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:10.16 and second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.25.
  • Senior Matt Nagler won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.96 and placed second in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.48.
  • Graduate student Sean Ream touched first in the 200-yard butterfly in 1:56.84.
  • Senior Aleksander Tarczynski won two races and finished second in another. His two victories were in the 100-yard butterfly (51.16) and 50-yard freestyle (21.24) while he touched second in the 100-yard freestyle (47.04).
  • Freshman DJ Lloyd earned the win in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.98.
  • Sophomore Christian Lanuza was the first to finish the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.89.
  • Junior Taiyo De Jong out-touched Zoota in the 100-yard backstroke by .11 with a time of 54.38 while sophomore Samuel Telanoff outlasted freshman Todd Achuff in the 200-yard IM by .22 with a time of 2:01.42.
  • Graduate student Jud Kyle set two pool records and school records with scores of 595.40 points on the 1-meter diving board and 654.00 points on the 3-meter diving board.

Next Up

  • The Tartans will participate in the Western PA Invitational with the swimming portion taking place at the University of Pittsburgh on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28. The diving events will be hosted by the Tartans on Friday and Saturday.
