Morford Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Brayden Morford has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for his performance during the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational. This is the second award for Morford this season.

Morford led the Tartans to a second-place showing and many race victories at the meet. The sophomore hit an A Cut in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 46.44, which is tops in the nation. Morford was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:19.59), the 400-yard medley relay (3:15.33), 200-yard medley relay (1:27.29), and 400-yard freestyle relay (2:56.08) that won with two of them setting meet or pool records, and the 800-yard freestyle relay that placed third (6:40.83). He won the 200-yard IM (1:46.37) and the 100-yard butterfly and placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (46.96) and 200-yard backstroke (1:46.45) during the preliminaries but didn't swim the finals. His 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard IM times are also first in the nation while his 200-yard backstroke time is third. And three of the five relays are first in the nation after the weekend's races.

The team breaks for the holiday and resumes competition in January.
