Tartans Take Down DI Bucknell for 4-0 Start

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team remained undefeated on the year with a 5-4 win over Division I Bucknell University on Friday night at The Alpha Tennis Club in Hamarville, Pa. The victory marks the fourth on the year for the team.

Bucknell had a 2-1 lead after doubles play with the Tartans point coming from the No. 3 doubles team of sophomore Bryce Beisswanger (Los Angeles, Calif./Viewpoint School) and freshman Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) who won 8-4 and gave the Tartans a brief lead finishing first.

Senior Harsha Rao (Severn, Md./Old Mill) tied the match at 2-2 with his No. 6 singles win over Aidan Lynch, 6-4, 6-1.

With the Tartans down 3-2, Alla won his No. 3 singles match 6-4, 6-4 over Evan Zimmer and freshman Yuvraj Kumar (New Delhi, India/Millfield School) followed with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles against Josh Katten to give the Tartans back the lead at 4-3.

Senior Duke Miller (Poway, Calif./Poway) won the fifth and deciding point for the Tartans at No. 2 singles by a three-set score of 6-7(5-7), 6-3, 7-5 over Kelly Morque.

The Tartans will take to the road for their next match when they face Haverford College on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 3:00 p.m.
