Men's and Women's Tennis Both Ranked in Top 10 Nationally

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team broke into the top 10 of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Rankings when the most recent rankings were released late on April 10. The men join the women's team, who moved up to eighth, in the top 10 for the first time since 2009-10. The Tartan men moved from No. 11 to No. 9 after finishing off a nine-match stretch versus nationally ranked opponents.

Just last week the Tartan men, ranked 11th, defeated eighth-ranked Case Western Reserve University 5-4 on the road. That win marked the team's seventh victory in its last nine matches.

The top 10 ranking marks the second occurance in four years as the men's team was ranked as high as seventh in 2009-10 before finishing the year ranked eighth and in the quarterfinals of the NCAA tournament.

The Tartans, who play a line up without a senior, will host No. 11 Kenyon College on Saturday, April 19 before traveling to Florida for the University Athletic Association Championship on April 24-26.

The women have faced seven straight nationally ranked opponents and have won five while falling by 5-4 scores in the other two.

The women have two more matches before traveling south for the UAA Championships on April 25-27 and will host Division I Duquense University of Friday, April 18 and Kenyon on Saturday, April 19.
