Men's Tennis named ITA All-Academic Team; Seven Named Scholar-Athletes

(SKILLMAN, N.J.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the fifth straight season and 12th time in the last 13 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, seven players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above and the men's team achieved a cumulative team average of 3.58 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, senior Julian Pearlman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), juniors Will Duncan (Newbury Park, Calif./Newbury Park) and Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood), sophomore Abhishek Alla (Hyderabad, India/IMG Pendleton School) and freshmen Kiril Kirkov (Tampa, Fla./C. Leon King), Kunal Wadwani (Saratoga, Calif./Ballarmine College Prep) and Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) were named Scholar Athletes.   

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a GPA of at least 3.50 and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
