Kirkov Recognized by the UAA

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Kiril Kirkov (Tampa, Fla./C. Leon King) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week after posting a 3-0 singles record at the Tartans home invitational with Division I Duquesne University and St. Francis (Pa.) University.

The sophomore started with a win over Alex Aleman of Duquesne, 9-8 (10-8) on Friday before defeating St. Francis' No. 1 Eli Cerdan 8-3 on Saturday. On Sunday, Kirkov topped St. Francis' No. 2 Washi Gervais 8-6 to close out his undefeated weekend.

Carnegie Mellon returns to action the weekend of Saturday, September 27 when they travel to Fredericksburg, Va. for the ITA Regional Tournament at the University of Mary Washington.
