No. 9 Tartans Topped by No. 12 Kenyon

(ST. PETER, Minn.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team continued action in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Saturday, February 21 against 12th-ranked Kenyon College. The Tartans, ranked ninth in the nation, fell to the Lords, 6-3, in the consolation semifinals at the Swanson Tennis Center.

The Tartans found themselves down 2-1 after doubles play with the No. 2 pair of senior Bryce Beisswanger (Los Angeles, Calif./Viewpoint School) and junior Yuvraj Kumar (New Delhi, India/Millfield School) winning 8-2.

In singles, the Tartans earned points from sophomores Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) and Kunal Wadwani (Saratoga, Calif./Ballarmine College Prep). Zheng won 7-6(7-2), 6-7(2-7), 6-4 at No. 3 singles against Robert Turlington while Wadwani won his sixth straight match with a 6-1, 7-6(7-1) victory at No. 4 singles.

One match remains at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship for Carnegie Mellon, as the Tartans will face host, and 14th-ranked, Gustavus Adolphus College at 7:30 p.m. CT Saturday in the seventh-place match.
