No. 10 Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championship

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 10th in the nation, faced 13th-ranked University of Chicago in the third-place match at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on Sunday, April 26. The Maroons pulled out an 8-1 victory and move the Tartans' record to 15-9.

The Tartans fell behind 3-0 after doubles play and Chicago took the first point in singles play to hold a 4-0 lead. Shortly after a storm delay, senior Christian Heaney-Secord (Westwood, Mass./Westwood) won 6-2, 7-5 at second singles to give the Tartans their first team point of the day.

Three of the final four matches went to three sets but the Maroons were able to secure the team victory with a win at third singles.

The Tartans will next look to hear their name called for the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship when bids are announced on Monday, May 4.
