Tartans Come Up Short Against Duquesne

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team began the spring season with an indoor match against Division I Duquesne University on Sunday, January 31. The Dukes defeated the Tartans, 5-2, to move Carnegie Mellon's record to 2-1.

The Tartans earned their two victories at fourth and sixth singles. Junior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) defeated Drew Akins, 6-3, 6-0, while freshman Vayum Aurora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) topped Harry Walshe, 6-3, 6-2.

At second doubles, the pair of Zheng and sophomore Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) had a hard fought match that ended with Duquesne winning, 7-6 (11-9).

The Tartans will be back in action again on Saturday, February 6 when they host Division II Walsh University at 1:00 p.m.
