Men’s Tennis Drops 5-2 Decision to Duquesne

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked seventh nationally, began the spring season with an indoor match against Division I Duquesne University on Friday, February 3. The Dukes defeated the Tartans, 5-2, to move Carnegie Mellon's record to 3-1.

Carnegie Mellon opened the match taking two of three doubles to record a team point heading into singles play. The tandem of Senior Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central) and freshman Michael Rozenvasser (Haworth, N.J./Northern Valley Regional) won at second doubles, 6-2, before the Tartans top doubles team of sophomores Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and  Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) won 6-4.

The Tartans earned one point in singles play, as Levine defeated Dimitris Stavropoulo at first singles, 6-3, 6-4.

Carnegie Mellon will host another Division I opponent on Saturday, February 4 when Saint Joseph's travels to Pittsburgh for an 8:00 a.m. match.
