#7 Tartans Fall at #6 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) - The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team visited sixth-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Sunday, March 12 in Claremont, California. The host Stags upended the Tartans, 7-2.

The Tartans (9-7) were down 2-1 after three tightly contested doubles matches. Earning a win for the Tartans was junior Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and sophomore Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona Del Mar) in the second slot by a 9-8 (8-6) score. The number one pair of sophomores Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose) were ousted by a 9-7 score.

Downing won the only singles match for the Tartans as he earned a 6-3, 6-2 win at the number three position.

The Tartans will have a few days off before they finish their spring break trip on Wednesday, March 15 against Division I Lehigh University at 9:00 a.m. PST.
