ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Nine Named Scholar Athletes

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the eighth straight season and 15th time in the last 16 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, nine players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year and the men's team achieved a cumulative average of 3.49 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, seniors Kiril Kirkov (Tampa, Fla./C. Leon King), Kunal Wadwani (Saratoga, Calif./Ballarmine College Prep) and Kenny Zheng (Pennington, N.J./Hopewell Valley Central), juniors Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Tommy Cheng (Cupertino, Calif./Cupertino), sophomore Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School), and freshmen Nicholas Calzolano (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central), Hudson Graf (Irvine, Calif./University) and Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne).

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50, and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
