Fields Announced for 2018 ITA National Indoor Championships
(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The fields for the 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Men's and Women's National Team Indoor Championships were announced on Wednesday, July 19 and both Carnegie Mellon University teams will be participating once again. This year marks the 10th straight year the women's team will compete for the indoor title while the men will be making their sixth appearance since 2010.
Gustavus Adolphus College will serve as host of the men's tournament, while Sewanee: The University of the South, is the women's host for the second consecutive year. The men's championship takes place February 23-25, 2018, at the Swanson Tennis Center and one additional facility in St. Peter, Minnesota. The women's tournament runs March 2-4, 2018, at the McCallie School and the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Carnegie Mellon's men's team finished the 2017 season ranked 10th in the nation by the ITA and placed fourth at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship last season. The Tartans have placed fourth at the tournament on three occasions.
The Tartan women won the inaugural event in 2009 and finished second five consecutive years from 2012 to 2016. The women also finished the 2017 season ranked 10th in the nation by the ITA after completing the year in the round of 16 at the NCAA Championships.
