(ST. PETER, Minn.) - The 10th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's team ran into a tough 16th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College team on its home court in the consolation semifinal of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship on Saturday, February 24. The Gusties were victorious by an 8-1 score moving the Tartans record to 5-3 for the year.

The Gusties were able to sweep doubles play to take a 3-0 advantage into singles.

The Tartans battled at every position in singles play with sophomore Robert Levin (Virginia Beach, Va. / Princess Anne) earning the team's lone point, 7-6, 7-6, at fifth singles.

In a match-up of the top two ranked singles players in the nation, junior Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) came up short against #1 Mohanad Alhouni who he also faced in the championship match of the ITA Oracle Cup in the fall. After the first set needed a tiebreaker to be decided, Alhouni was able to fight off Levine 6-1 in the second set for the win.

Junior Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) played 18th-ranked Zach Ekstein at second singles, forcing a third set before falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.

The Tartans return to the court against 13th-ranked Trinity University Sunday morning in the seventh-place match.
