#12 Tartans Tripped Up by #9 Amherst

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) - The 12th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team faced its second straight top 10 opponent in ninth-ranked Amherst College on Monday, March 12 in Claremont, California. The Tartans dropped the match by a 7-2 score to move to 8-4 for the year.

Juniors Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) and Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) earned the points for the Tartans in singles play. Levine, playing at first singles, won 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 for his fourth straight victory. Downing earned his win at second singles by a 7-6 (11-9), 6-0 score.

The Tartans will return to the court on Wednesday, March 14 against fourth-ranked Bowdoin College.
