Levine Honored as UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis junior Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for his 4-0 performance as the Tartans started spring break.

Levine, ranked second in the nation in singles and 15th in doubles, helped the 12th-ranked Tartans defeat seventh-ranked Washington University in St. Louis for the first time in program history with a pair of wins in the 5-4 victory in California. He also won twice in a 9-0 win against Whittier College to start the trip.

Both doubles wins came at first doubles with junior partner Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) as they won 8-2 against Whittier and 8-7 (7-4) against WashU. Levine's first singles victories were by 6-0, 6-2 and 6-2, 6-4 scores, respectively.

The Tartans continue action in California today against ninth-ranked Amherst College before playing fourth-ranked Bowdoin College on Wednesday.
