Levine Named UAA Men’s Tennis Player of the Year

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Tennis Player of the Year by the UAA coaches when the 2018 UAA Men's Tennis All-Association Team was announced. The Carnegie Mellon University first singles and doubles player is the first player in school history to earn the top award.

Levine will continue both his singles and doubles seasons at the 2018 NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships and currently holds national rankings of second in singles and 15th in doubles. The junior has a 25-6 mark in singles play and was recently named the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 UAA Men's Tennis Championship. He will pair with junior teammate Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) at the NCAA tournament. Together they have a record of 18-6 and were named to the All-UAA First Team.

Levine's honors on the first team mark the second time he's earned first-team recognition at both first singles and first doubles. As a freshman, he was named to the second team at first doubles. Downing picks up his third league honor after earning placement on the second team at third singles and second doubles as a sophomore.

Joining Levine and Downing as first-team selections is freshman Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) at third singles. Boppana finished his rookie campaign with a 23-9 singles mark and a runner-up finish at the ITA Southeast Regional Singles Tournament to Levine.
