ITA Honors Men’s Tennis as All-Academic Team; Six Named Scholar Athletes

(TEMPE, Ariz.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team was honored for the ninth straight season and 16th time in the last 17 years by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as an ITA All-Academic Team. In addition, six players were named ITA Scholar Athletes.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above during the last academic year and the men's team achieved a cumulative average of 3.44 for the year.

In addition to the team honor, senior Jeffrey Chen (Carmel, Ind./Carmel), junior Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School), sophomore Hudson Graf (Irvine, Calif./University), and freshmen Tom Bickel (Winnetka, Ill./New Trier), Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass./Acton Boxborough Regional), and Joshua Pinckney (Atlanta, Ga./The Westminster Schools) were honored as ITA Scholar Athletes.

In order to be eligible to be an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have an academic year GPA of at least 3.50, and been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
