Doubles Team of Downing and Levine Win Consolation Semi-Final Match at ITA Oracle Cup; Downing Wins Singles Match

(ROME, Ga.) - Seniors Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) and Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team won their consolation doubles match at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Oracle Cup on Friday, while Downing also advanced in singles play with a win. The national tournament is being played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

Downing and Levine faced Alan Dubrovsky and Walker Anderson of Hobart College and picked up a straight-set victory, winning by the scores of 6-3, 6-0. The pair will now face Tyler Raclin and Jeremy Yuan of the University Of Chicago in the fifth-place match on Saturday.

In singles play, Downing also advanced to the fifth-place match after defeating Joshua Bode of Concordia University (Texas), 7-6(3), 6-1. The win marked the 100th career victory (singles and doubles) for the senior. Downing will play Ethan Hillis of Washington University in St. Louis on Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
