#15 Tartans Faced Seventh Straight Ranked Opponent in #9 Wesleyan

(Orlando, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team, ranked 15th nationally, played ninth-ranked Wesleyan University in its final match of the spring trip and lost 6-3. The Tartans are now 5-6 on the season while Wesleyan remains unbeaten at 4-0.

Carnegie Mellon picked up a point in doubles when the tandem of junior Nicholas Calzolano (Hinsdale, Ill. / Hinsdale Central) and sophomore Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) won 8-6 in the second spot.

Senior Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) knotted the score at 2-2 with a 6-0, 1-6, 6-2 win at second singles. Wesleyan then won at first, third, fourth and fifth singles to clinch the win.

Freshman Sam Gibson (Chico, Calif. / Pleasant Valley) recorded the Tartans third point with a 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (6) win at sixth singles.

Carnegie Mellon will be back in action on Saturday, March 30 with an 11:00 a.m. match against Division I foe Georgetown.
