#15 Tartans Top #24 Denison on the Road

(GRANVILLE, Ohio) - The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team traveled 24th-ranked Denison University on Sunday and left with a 6-3 win over the Big Red. The Tartans concluded the regular season with an 8-7 mark while the Big Red are now 10-6.

Carnegie Mellon started the match with a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. The Tartans top tandem of seniors Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill. / Boca Prep International School) and Vayum Arora (Fremont, Calif. / Mission San Jose) grabbed the first point for the visitors with an 8-6 win. Carnegie Mellon's second point came when its third doubles team of sophomores Ray Boppana (Boxborough, Mass. / Acton Boxborough Regional) and Joshua Pinckney (Atlanta, Ga. / The Westminster Schools) won 8-4.

The Tartans then claimed points at second, third, fifth and sixth singles with senior Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) sealing the win in the second spot with a 6-2, 6-4 victory.

The Tartans will next travel to Orlando, Florida, for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship with play set to begin on Friday, April 26. The draw for the tournament will be released Monday, April 22.
