#15 Tartans Take Five Single Points to Defeat #27 Denison

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The 15th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's tennis team hosted the 27th-ranked Denison University Big Red on Saturday afternoon. The Tartans improve to 8-2 with a 6-3 win while the Big Red move to 8-2.

Denison took a 2-1 advantage following doubles play with the Tartans point coming at the second spot when sophomore Matthew Poh (Manhattan Beach, Calif. / Mira Costa) and freshmen Arjan Bedi (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Sewickley Academy) won 8-3.

After falling behind 3-1, the Tartans rattled off five points. The first came when freshman Brandon Aprill (Mountain View, Calif. / The Menlo School) won 6-3, 6-0 at second singles followed by freshman Nadim Motaghedi (Cerritos, Calif. / Whitney) victory at the third spot by the scores of 6-3, 6-2.

Freshman Jaden D'Abreo (Portland, Ore. / Jesuit) then gave the Tartans a 4-3 lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win at six singles. Then, sophomore Raahil Doshi (Singapore, Singapore / Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), Singapore) sealed the win after his 6-4, 6-1 decision at four. Poh ended the match with a 7-5, 6-4 win at five.

The Tartans will host Kenyon College on Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m.
