Men's Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the men's 2015 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list. A total of 99 institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.1 or better.

The 2015 Pan American Games started July 10 and ten days later it’s time for the track and field participants and coaches to depart for Toronto to prepare for their events which begin July 20. Carnegie Mellon University Head Track and Field Coach Gary Aldrich will represent the United States Track and Field team as the assistant throws coach at the games.

After finding a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's and women’s cross country and track and field less than a month ago, three Carnegie Mellon University senior athletes were selected to the Capital One Academic All-America Third Team for the 2014-15 season; George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) and Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) on the men’s side are joined by Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) on the women’s team.

Carnegie Mellon University had three senior athletes named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's and women’s cross country and track and field for the 2014-15 season; George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) and Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) on the men’s side are joined by Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) on the women’s team. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition with the official sponsor of Capital One.

Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) finished in eighth place in the finals of the 800-meter run at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon. The championships were held at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

The Championships is being held at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.

Senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 2015 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 21. Degen competed in the 10,000-meter run after qualifying for the event in early April at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic.
