Vandenberg Earns UAA Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for running events following his performance in helping the Tartans to a first-place team finish at the 12 team Lid-Lifter Invitational held at Denison University on Saturday, January 24.

Vandenberg took first in the 800-meter run, as he topped his time from a week ago by .85 seconds when he crossed in 1:54.09 Saturday afternoon.  His time currently is first in the UAA and ranks third nationally.

Vandenberg and the Tartans will be back in action again on Saturday, January 31, when the team travels to Case Western Reserve University for the Seventh Annual Battle of the Obelisk.
