Vandenberg Receives Third UAA Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – For the third time this indoor season, senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for running events.  The senior once again turned in a stellar performance, this time at the Dragon Open hosted by Tiffin University on Saturday, February 14.

Vandenberg has competed in the 800-meter race four times this season and has won the event each time.  Saturday he crossed the line in 1:53.70 and bettered his previous UAA leading time of 1:54.03.  Vandenberg currently ranks eighth nationally in the 800.

The Tartans will next compete on Friday, February 20 at Ohio State University.
