Vandenberg Named UAA Most Outstanding Indoor Performer

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Most Outstanding Performer in Running Events when the league office announced its postseason accolades Thursday, March 5.

It marks the third consecutive year that Vandenberg received the distinction and he becomes just the second male athlete to win the award three times.  At the UAA Championships, the senior won the 800-meter race and was part of the winning distance medley relay.  He crossed the finish line with a time of 1:53.59 in the 800, a full second ahead of the second-place finisher, while the DMR crossed in 10:06.75.

It marked the third straight indoor championship that Vandenberg won the 800 while also being on the winning DMR.
