Vandenberg Turns in Two Fifth-Place Finishes at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships

(WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.) – Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) finished fifth in two events, garnering All-America honors in both races, during the finals of the 2015 NCAA Indoor Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday afternoon.  This year's championships are being held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with Roanoke College serving as the official host.  

Vandenberg started the day crossing the finish line with a time of 49.13 in the 400-meter dash before stepping back on the track an hour-and-ten minutes later and crossed in 1:54.98 in the 800-meter run.  His two All-America honors are Vandenberg's second and third of his collegiate career for the indoor season.    

Fellow senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West) also competed on Saturday, as he ran in the finals of the 3,000-meter run.  Degan finished the race in 10th-place with a time of 8:28.49.
